Chapter 15

Aubrey

Stretching, I open my eyes to bright light so I slam them shut again. I burrow back under the covers, pulling the pillow from the other side of the bed to my chest and instantly smell Garrett. He’s smells so damn good, I think to myself with a smile.

“What’s got you smiling so early in the morning?”

I roll over, opening my eyes and my smile widens. Garrett’s standing next to my side of his bed in nothing but a towel. He’s obviously just out of the shower. His hair has droplets of water dripping from the tips onto his chest. There’s just so much…water. I lick my lips, wanting to lick him clean.

“Oh no. Don’t you start. I have to go into the office and I’m already running late,” Garrett smiles wider and leans down to kiss me before quickly moving away. He pulls some things out of his dresser and heads into his closet.

“Have you gotten to look anymore at those plans that Seb drew up?”

He’s talking about the plans for my facility. “Um, yeah,” I call out while staying in the warmth of his bed. We’ve spent a lot of time between our beds. Normally we’re at my apartment, but every now and then Garrett likes to be in his bed. I don’t blame him. His bed is a lot more comfortable than mine.

“What did you think?”

I hesitate a little before admitting, “It’s a little pricey. I can’t afford all that. I figure maybe a barn will suffice for now.” I could stay in the small building on the land and still be close to everyone.

“No,” Garrett says walking out. “We’re all pitching in to build the facility. You can just cover the materials.” I go to interrupt, but Garrett stops me by sitting on the bed at my waist and kissing me. “Everyone wants to do this. Marley’s itching to get her hands on a mallet.”

“A mallet? What does she need a mallet for? Aren’t they for destroying things?”

“Yep. That’s why Ethan’s buying a doll house for her and letting her go to town. We’ll get started at some point though once everything’s finalized to your satisfaction.”

“I just have to get Seb to understand I can’t afford what he sent me.”

“So pick one or two things,” Garrett shrugs. “We can add on as we go. We’re going to go out to the land this weekend to look and take measurements.”

“But we need to practice!” I’m grasping at straws.

Garrett stands up, buttoning his shirt. “You’ll have plenty of time to practice, I promise.”

“But, but…” I’m speechless, not knowing what I can say to get everyone to not do this.

“No. No buts. Everyone’s already on board. We’re making it a family and friend thing.”

I roll to my back, looking at the ceiling. I feel the tears start, and quickly wipe them away. “Can I have some time?”

“Sure can,” Garrett says softly, kissing me again. “How about tonight we go for a skate?”

He knows the best way to get me to smile.
